Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Excel Change Log website and service operated by Excel Change Log ("we", "us", "our"). By using our service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. The Service

Excel Change Log is a web-based tool that lets you compare Excel (.xlsx) files and generate detailed change logs. We provide both free and paid plans with different feature sets and usage limits.

2. Accounts

To use most features, you need to create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Upload files containing malware, viruses, or malicious content
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Use automated scripts or bots to access the service without our permission
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the service without our written consent
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure

4. Your Files & Content

You retain all ownership rights to the files you upload. We do not claim any ownership over your content. By uploading files, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display the comparison results to you and anyone you share them with via shared links.

You are solely responsible for the content of your files and for ensuring you have the right to upload and compare them.

5. Shared Links

When you create a shareable link, you are granting read-only access to the comparison results to anyone who has the link. You are responsible for managing who you share links with. We are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from shared links.

6. Payments & Subscriptions

Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.

7. Free Plan Limits

Free accounts are subject to usage limits (comparisons per month, file size, etc.) as described on our pricing page. We reserve the right to modify free plan limits at any time with reasonable notice.

8. AI-Powered Analysis

Our AI analysis feature uses third-party AI providers. AI-generated summaries are provided "as is" and may not be perfectly accurate. You should review AI-generated content before relying on it for important decisions. We offer configurable privacy levels to control how much data is shared with AI providers.

9. Service Availability

We strive to keep Excel Change Log available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may occasionally need to perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability. We are not liable for any downtime or service interruptions.

10. Limitation of Liability

Excel Change Log is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue arising from your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the website or sending an email. Your continued use of the service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if unresolved, through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
